Abstract
Methyl glyoxylate was produced from glyoxylic acid and methanol in the presence of strong acidic resin as catalyst.Influence of reaction time,temperature,alcohol-acid mole ratio,and catalyst loading was investigated.The results show that the yield of methyl glyoxylate could achieve as high as 74.8% under the optimal conditions of reaction temperature 55 ℃,alcohol-acid mole ratio 6:1~8:1,the amount of catalyst was 5%of the mass of glyoxylic acid,and reaction time 1.5 h.The fluctuation of experimental results was small after seven recycles of the catalyst,which means the catalyst exhibited good stability.
