A 2% Mo/SiO2 catalyst was modified with chromium, tin, copper and phosphorus using L9(34) o rthogonal experiment. These four elements have great influence on the act ivity and select ivity of the catalyst. A t 450℃ and under atmo spheric pressure, the yield of methano l is h igh (2176% ) when the catalyst is added w ith 2176% Cr. Studies using XPS, FT 2IR, TPR and TPD indicate that there exist mo lybdenum as Mo6+ , Mo2Si bonds, agreat deal of acidic sites and various interact ion phases on the surface of the catalyst.

T racemetallicions of iron, chromium, nickel andmanganese in commercial grade fo rmalinso lut ion w ere determ ined by ICP. The influence of these impurit ies on po isoning of the catalyst fo r synthesis of methylal from fo rmalin andmethano lw as invest igated. Itw as found that the amount of the ionsadso rbed in the catalyst increased w ith immersing t ime and that their adsorption rate was in the fo llowing order: Fe3+ > Cr3+ > Ni2+ > Mn2+ . The poisoning effect of nickel andmanganesew as negligible,while that of iron was significant. F inally, an effect ivemethod using an regenerat ion so lut ion fo r in site regenerat ion of catalyst was developed. Bymeans of the liquid phase regenerat ion technique, the poisoned catalyst could be react ivated to its init ial act ivity level.

The indust rial applicat ion of QCS201 sulfur to lerant sh ift catalyst in low-sulfur residuum process and propert ies of used QCS201 catalyst w as described in th is paper. The results show that QCS201 sulfurto lerant shift catalyst can be used at high pressure (~810MPa) , high steam gas ratio (~114) and H2S concent rat ion of ≥0.01 vol%. It exh ibits h igh sh ift activity (especially in low temperature and or low sulfur concent ration) , good adap tability to h igh space velocity and w ide range of steamögas rat io, strong resistance to oil, carbon black and poisons, good stability and ease in sulfiding.

The first commercial use ofQCS204 sulfur to lerant sh ift catalyst in Shanxi Fertiliser Plant was described in this article. The test run results show that the catalyst is featured by h igh st rength, high strength and structural stability, good low temperature act ivity and ease in sulfiding and regeneration. Under the process condit ion of medium pressure sulfur to lerant sh ift p lant, the catalyst exh ibits evident ly bet ter perfor mance than other same kind of domestic products.

The perfo rmance of YXM-92 metal Passivatorin FCCU of Jinxi Petroleum Refning & Chemical Complex are described in thepaper . The results show that hydrogen content indry gas decreases from 20%~30% to 10%~18% , H2/CH4 from 1.5 to 0.5, light oil yield increases by 1151% , and net LPG yield increases by 0.42% , while dry gas and coke yield decrease . Therefore, good economic benef it can be obtained by use of YXM-92 metal passivator .

The experi ment show ed that cobolt and molybdenum tends to intereact st rongly with alum inacar rier and active component cobo lt has poor dispersi on in alumina; the first lyoccuring strong interaction betw een MgO and A l2O3 w eakens the st rong interact i on betw een two act ive components-cobo lt and mo lybdenum, results in high dspersi on of cobo lt and molybdenum on A l2O3·MgO carrier.The high lydispersed cobo lt and molydenum tend to function coordinately, thus promo tesh if tact ivity of the catalyst .

A ct ivity of nanometer A l2O3 increasesw ith temperature evident ly in low er temperature range but unevident ly in h igher temperature range. A thigher temperature the activity decreases rapidly with t ime.
